Montemartini Gutturnio Superiore DOC
Exclusively available from Cana Import. From Ziano Piacentino, these vines are cordon trained, at a density of only 4000 plants per hectare. Low yield and hand picking ensures the highest quality fruit.
The Barbera and Croatina grapes are gently pressed and fermented on the skins for around 6 days at 26C. The wine is matured for 6 months, with a short period of a few weeks in oak, imparting a touch of vanilla from the wood.
Intense red fruit, with the mentioned vanilla and also a hint of liquorice. A truly special wine from the region.
Back in the early 1900s Count Luigi Montemartini saw the potential for the land around Castell’ Arquato, and formed the first ‘cantine sociali’ to work together.
